Transportation in Syracuse
Syracuse University provides free bus service to all students, employees, and guests, linking South Campus with Main Campus. Additionally, there is a limited service to the neighborhoods adjacent to the University. The University and C.N.Y. Centro, Inc. operate 13 shuttle routes, including three “free fare” zones in area neighborhoods. Buses run weekdays from 7 a.m. to 2:50 a.m. and weekends from 8 a.m. to 2:50 a.m.
SU students enjoy all four seasons. During the summer, the temperature averages 70 – 90°F (32.2°C). During the winter there is a lot of snow and temperatures average about 23°F (–5°C). When the wind blows, it feels much colder.
There’s an expression you’ll hear Syracusans use often: “If you don’t like the weather, just wait five minutes. It’ll change.” Variable temperatures mean that you’ll want to layer clothing in order to easily adjust. A coat, hat, snow boots, scarf, and warm gloves are must-have items, but you’ll also need your sandals, shorts, and sunblock.
